Well done to all our A-Level Students!!
We are incredibly proud of the success achieved by all our A Level students. 36% of all the results achieved were A*/A grades and 62% A* to B grades. Special congratulations to the 24 students who achieved 3 or more A*/A grades. These impressive results are all the more pleasing in a year where the top grades are becoming harder to achieve. Nationally top grades have fallen over the last few years in efforts to deal with what is perceived as "grade inflation". We have, with focus and determination, increased our percentage of top grades. Well done to all our students and we wish them all the very best for their futures.
Welcome to Gravesend Grammar School
Over the years the School has grown but it remains small enough for staff to know the boys well and for parents to recognise the value this brings in terms of the relationships that are developed.
The School has a well-deserved reputation for academic success built up through the hard work of staff and students in partnership with parents, who are dedicated to achieving the best they possibly can. Demands on you will be high, as will our expectations. We believe though, that education is about more than exam results, important as they are.
The School is also well known for a range of other activities. Sports features strongly and the School has a Sportsmark Award. Music and Drama are not only strong academic subjects but also provide a wealth of opportunities to participate in concerts and productions. We hope students will leave us having challenged themselves in a whole variety of areas and succeeded in something as well as exams. The School will support you as much as possible as you rise to these many challenges.
We hope to produce young people who will participate, become valuable members of their communities and go on to be leaders in their chosen fields. We hope that you do choose Gravesend Grammar School and that you will leave us as a successful person with a range of interests, good memories and good friends.
Our OFSTED inspection (June 2012) confirmed:
This is a good school.
The school treats the students with a respect and maturity that allow them to develop into fine young men, who can contribute constructively to society and make a difference to others less able.
- Students are keen to achieve and justifiably confident that their teacher will guide them to good results.
- The school is an outstanding resource for able boys from the surrounding community.
- Students' needs are understood and carefully supported.
- Students identify their rapport with staff as a key strength.
